As initially posted on the BeBits Wiki - Hire a BeOS Developer:
$100 is offered (via paypal) as a reward for providing a working Atheros wireless driver for BeOS 5.0 Intel (net_server). One might try porting the MADWiFi (Multiband Atheros Driver for WiFi) to BeOS or merely use it as reference for their own driver. The MADWiFi driver is GPL except for a binary firmware piece. |

Hello,
I just wanted to let potential developers know that a free atheros hal is made available by an OpenBSD developer.
According to developer of other wifi drivers for BeOS, it should be easy to program this into a working BeOS driver.
The source code (with BSD license meaning totally free distribution) is available here:
http://www.openbsd.org/cgi-bin/cvsweb/src/sys/dev/ic/ar5xxx.h?rev=1.11
Perhaps it is possible to use this code with the source code of already available wifi drivers for BeOS to make a working Atheros driver for BeOS?
I'm looking forward to seeing another driver for BeOS. Especially because Atheros makes awesome and cheap wifi chipsets.
Good luck. |
