Euan will be checking here for feedback on Radeon driver issues.
So if you've tried using one of the developemental versions post your feedback here. The BeBits feedback is getting rather hard to sort through.
Eventually the changes will get added into the Haiku tree.

Latest version is available on Bebits (in the talkback).

You can download it here:

If anyone has a clue how to debug Media addons, specifically Video In. I'd love to hear from you. I'm at a loss!

Changes:

Rage Theater 200 support added, but not working yet on my system.

*** Warning do not install the media_addon unless you want to potentially crash your system ***

If you don't need it, don't install it!

At this time my PCI Radeon9000 AIW crashes when downloading the microcode, haven't found the cause yet. It failes doing a VIP FIFO read incase your interested. Maybe some 9x00 VIVO/AIW users can test this?

Possible Fix for X700's Command Processor \ DMA problem (was reported on X.org as fix for R423, but sounds like same problem hopefully).

Video In support for X800's (all but Asus X800s have a Rage Theater 1 series chip). Seams quite buggy, was it always like that? At the moment the Radeon media addon is quite picky about what formats and settings are allowed. For example StampTV asks for 638x480 resolution instead of 640x480, and Radeon doesn't like it... Don't try to resize the StampTv window (if you even get it running). TV app works great but doens't use overlay so chews through CPU time. Changing Formats PAL/NTSC works sometimes, sometimes not. YCbCr422 format doesn't work not sure if it's the capture, or the overlay, and even if I broke it...

No changes yet for Flatpanel support. I'm still thinking about it, but it's messy. What would be useful is linux X logs showing what settings the linux code picks for your displays. You don't need to download linux, maybe just try a bootable cd image?

Plans:

Flatpanel initialisation fixed
Overlay / Capture tidy up
Multiple Card Support / Cold Start.

Euan, did you consider to maintain the Radeon driver in the Haiku repository ? I think Haiku needs a maintainer for it.

Hi Euan! Thanks for working on the Radeon driver. On my Radeon machines, I've had success with the Radeon driver (and control panel) on BeBits. Is your driver a continuation of this work, the Radeon code in Haiku, or some new effort? I think it's great, regardless.

latest version:

http://euank.users.btopenworld.com/beos/BeOS_Radeon_V5.1.5.1_Bin.zip

Runs exclusively in the slower PIO mode for laptops X series cards that don't work too good. 7/8/9 series cards should use the older versions as they will preform better. EG anything upto V5.1.3

The next version I do should return full perfomance for the cards that were previously working fine with full acceleration.

I put the posts discussing the Rage128 driver into it's own thread since it's not related to the Radeon driver. The new thread is called ATI Rage128 driver.

Video Card: ATI - RS200M - Mobility M6 (U2)
Vendor: 0x1002 - Device: 0x4337
Zeta 1.1 (According to zeta pc info)

1st all the colours were wrong, had it on this external monitor LG LCD TV @ 1024x786 which with the old 5.1 drivers works fine. It was terribly slow the system crawled and everything was drawn over itself therefore I didn't test it on the laptop panel.

Used the latest Zeta radeon 5.1.60

I'm trying to get my x1600 to work with the drivers in Zeta 1.1, however I don't think the drivers are recognizing the card, it may be something else though.

The Device ID that I'm getting from zeta is 71C0, I tried to Hex edit them in, however i'm 99.9% sure I did not do it right.

Any help/ideas?
